Generators
Custom-built web apps, video, 2016.
In collaboration with Emily Martinez as Anxious to Make.
Description
Anxious to Make’s Generators are a series of custom-coded, online tools to help artists outsource and automate away their tasks -- such as coming up with new project ideas or finding new channels for artwork distribution -- to the so-called “sharing” economy. Examples of generators include a Project Generator, which generates thousands of different project permutations from a matrix of topics, materials, qualities, and sharing economy resources through which production can be outsourced; a Brand Generator, which creates an explosion of branded objects that artists can customize to promote their own brand identity; a Confidence Generator, which boosts confidence for artwork underway; and a Tough Love Generator, featuring a retired baseball coach giving the artist a tough love pep-talk.
