Bitcoin Futures

Interactive sculpture (wood, electronics, LCD display, thermal printer, digital coin acceptor, paint), 16” x 12.5” x 10.5”, 2018.
In collaboration with Emily Martinez as Anxious to Make.

Description

Modeled of the iconic yellow General Bytes ATM, Bitcoin Futures is a functional ATM machine that dispenses crypto prophesies rather than cryptocurrency as if it were a fortune telling machine. Like crypto-utopian ideologies, this ATM also looks toward the future. It offers up visionary advice, such as the blockchain inspired “The longest chain is always the true chain” and the foreboding “The man stuck in the past, back when a pizza cost 10,000 bitcoins, has the most to lose.” Fortunes cost USD$1, and in the spirit of the coin-lingo that is littered in crypto-communities, only coins are accepted. The price of fortunes may vary with market fluctuations.
