They Paid Me to Give You a Tour of the Internet

Net Art Intervention, 2016.
In collaboration with Emily Martinez as Anxious to Make.

Description

They Paid Me to Give You a Tour of the Internet is a net art intervention created specifically for the online art journal, Temporary Art Review. The work features VoiceOverPete, a gig-actor hired through the sharing economy, who took the form of a walk-on ad in the bottom of the right hand corner of Temporary Art Review’s front page online. VoiceOverPete leads viewers through a series of articles toward a “big sweepstakes,” and in doing so he spatializes internet pages as if they were a geographic space that could be toured, like a city or museum.
